In this article, we’re going to be discussing what the ‘Top 13 Best Guitar Reverb Pedals of 2020 are!

As always, before diving straight into what these pedals are, we’re going to first touch upon what exactly a guitar reverb pedal is, how it works and why you would want to purchase one.

Then, we’ll get into the Top … Reverb Pedals for Guitar, that we believe are the best, based on numerous different criteria…

All of which we explain, in both the individual product review sections and in the conclusion section (at the bottom), where we summarize our list of recommendations and who exactly each pedal is more suited towards.

As always, we really hope that you enjoy the article, and find the perfect guitar reverb processor for you.

So, what is a Guitar Reverb Pedal

A guitar reverb pedal is an effects processing unit that takes the input signal and loops it to play multiple times at output. It is commonly confused with a guitar delay pedal and a guitar looper pedal, but can be differentiated in explaining the physics behind its operation.

See, the only difference between a delay and reverb effect, to the human ear,  is the time difference between the original heard sound, and the repeating sound.

Hence, if the repeating signal is more than ….ms, it is considered by the ear as a delay, and can be heard as two unique (different) sounds. However, if it is any less than ….. ms, it is considered as a continuation of the original sound, and therefore a reverberation.

Additionally, some more beginner guitarists may mistake a looper pedal for a reverb pedal…

But as explained above, a reverberation is perceived as a continuation of the original heard signal but will slowly diminish in loudness over time (depending on the interface settings), completely fading out, whereas a guitar looper will ‘loop’ or repeat the original signal over and over again, without the signal diminishing in sound or power.

Reverb can often be heard in large rooms, with hollow walls, such an example would be a Church… And it’s the physical environment which causes sound waves to reflect from these hard surfaces, double in amplitude, which inevitably causes reverberation.

Therefore, what does a reverb pedal do?

A reverb pedal simply allows a guitarist to create the reverberated effect in real-time, through engaging the processor and modifying the interface settings.

A guitar reverberation pedal is usually used within a live performance environment, and not so much in a studio recording environment, as most music recording studios have expensive, high-quality rack-mounted processors which can provide reverb during the post-recording stage.

Why would you want to purchase a guitar reverberation pedal?

Well, as we mentioned above, they are especially useful within a live-performance environment and therefore any guitarist looking to add reverb to their guitar-sound during an on-stage performance would ideally want one.

Additionally, having a reverb pedal gives you as the guitarist, instantaneous access to engaging and disengaging the effect processor, unlike letting the FOH (Front-of-house) sound engineers add reverb onto the signal at output…

Therefore, it gives you more control over how your audience will hear your sound, which we all know is extremely important, as they will make judgements based on these impressions.

Ok, so that’s enough about what exactly a guitar reverb pedal does, let’s get to talking about our recommendations to which pedals you should consider.

The last thing, before we discuss the specific pedals… After receiving reader feedback, we realize that providing a one-size-fits-all recommendation would simply not be ideal… As every reader has different requirements, and a different budget.

Therefore, we’ve arranged the pedals in order from least expensive to most expensive, but feature a section within the individual pedal review to really expand on who the pedal is most suitable for….

However, if you’re running low on time, we’ve summed up all of our recommendations within the article conclusion (at the bottom of the article), where you can clearly see which pedal we recommend for each type of reader.

Customer Review Rating

The Ammoon MOSKY MP-51 reverb pedal has received an average rating of 4.5* out of 5 stars from 1 Amazon customer review.

Summary

The MP-51 by Ammon MOSKY is a budget-priced reverb pedal, being priced at only $32.

The unit is housed in a very sturdy, all-metal encased chassis and is extremely small in size, making it ideal for the guitarist who’s not got much to spend, and not much space on the pedalboard

The pedal is noted to provide a high-quality reverb effect, as though it is a more expensive unit, with guitarists mentioning that it provides a very warm but unique, vibrato-like sound with subtle harmonics.

From a usability perspective, there are only two knob controls (excluding the footswitch), which are ‘Mix’ and ‘Dwell’. Mix controls the overall mixture of wet and dry signal upon output, and Dwell controls the reverberation timing functionality.

Because of the simple functionality, it makes the pedal ideal for the guitarist who requires a plug-n-play solution, without needing to mess around with a mass of interface settings.

What would we improve?

As always with more budget-priced guitar effects pedals, we simply wouldn’t be doing the brand or yourself justice to point out what we would improve, as there are monetary constrictions with these low-priced products, and any functional additions would directly increase the price…

Which is the primary USP? However, including a power-supply would be beneficial, as it requires one for operation.

All-in-all, the pedal sounds great, and you can see this from both the Amazon reviews and the video demonstration that we’ve featured below… This brings us onto the next section.

Who is this pedal for?

It’s simple regarding this pedal, it’s for the guitarist who has a small budget, wants a small, compact unit which is suitable for both touring/live shows and practising, and provides a good-quality reverb effect sound.

It’s fantastic value for money, and if you like pink, we’re certain that you’ll like this.

Customer Review Rating

The SONICAKE reverb pedal has received an average rating of 4.5* out of 5 stars from 1 Amazon customer review.

Summary

The SONICAKE pedal is the second most affordable reverb processing unit that we’ve featured on our list. Similarly to the previously mentioned, budget-priced MP-51, the SONICAKE Digital Reverb Pedal is also very small in size, and is well-protected given that the processor is encased in a solid metal chassis.

As for the interface functionality of this unit, it provides a main ‘Reverb’ control knob, where the user can control the mixture of wet and dry signal for output. Additionally, the pedal also has a switch where the user can choose between 3 reverb-type settings which include ‘Room’, ‘Hall’ and ‘Plate’.

The pedal has notably been commended on its portability, weight and ability to provide a mild amount of reverb… However, before purchasing, please bear in mind that this is a budget reverb processing unit, so if you’re not expecting the world (aka something on par with the Boss RV-6 or the TC Electronics Hall of Fame 2), this may be suitable for you…

But check the reviews and video demonstration to be sure!

What would we improve?

We’re well aware that this is a budget-priced pedal, and so we’re hesitant to make improvement recommendations, with this certainly affecting the overall price…However, including a power-supply would be beneficial, as it requires one for operation.

All-in-all, the pedal sounds great, and you can see this from both the Amazon reviews and the video demonstration that we’ve featured below… This brings us onto the next section.

Customer Review Rating

The Donner Digital Reverb has received an average rating of 3.8* out of 5 stars from 1 Amazon customer review.

Summary

The Donner Digital Reverb pedal is another unit that has been priced to target more budget-oriented guitarists.

Similar to the other budget processors, the Donner unit is compact, lightweight and is fully protected, with the circuitry being encased in a durable metal shell, making it ideal for heavy usage.

As for the interface functionality. This pedal has a range of different functions/settings to choose from, with 7 reverb-type settings to change the ‘core sound’ and 3 parameter controls to modify the reverb duration, output mix and tonality. Overall, it allows for a lot of customization, with the sheer amount of setting combinations to choose between.

The pedal has been notably described as providing a decent sound, without all of the ‘bells and whistles’ so to speak. Simply put, Donner is known for providing affordably-priced pedals, which aren’t going to blow your mind like the Boss RV-6 or the TC Electronics Hall of Fame 2, but will provide the basic reverb functionality, for the small cost.

However, check the customer reviews (above) and the video demonstration (below) to be sure!

What would we improve?

We’re well aware that this is a budget-priced pedal, and so we’re hesitant to make improvement recomendations, with this certainly affecting the overall price…However, including a power-supply would be beneficial, as it requires one for operation.

All-in-all, the pedal sounds great, and you can see this from both the Amazon reviews and the video demonstration that we’ve featured below… This brings us onto the next section.

Who is this pedal for?

The Donner Reverb unit is ideal for the guitarist who wants more preset reverb settings (having 7 in total) than the other less expensive pedals that we’ve featured earlier in the list. Not only this, but it also features additional parameter knobs for further sonic personalization. Similarly to the other pedals, this is well-built, and so if you like the budget, the features and most importantly the sound quality, then it may be the perfect reverb pedal for you.

Customer Review Rating

The Biyang Tri Reverb RV-10 Pedal has received an average rating of 3.9* out of 5 stars from 172 Amazon customer review.

Summary

The Biyang Tri Reverb is a Stereo Reverb processing unit which as you can guess, provides stereo input/output via two 1/4″ jack connectors. This is a fantastic feature, particularly at such a low price.

The pedal itself has a particularly unique-looking aesthetic design, with its clear influence from comic-book styled typography and the bold use of colors. It really is eye-catching and when the incredibly bright blue LED is lit (when engaged), really creates a visual spectacle that will have other guitarists and audience members asking… Wow, what is that?

The unit itself has three different reverb preset types, which include Room, Spring and Hall… Alongside this, you have the ability to further personalize the finalized output sound through using the ‘Blend’ and ‘Time’ control functions.

The Biyang Tri Reverb unit has been noted as providing an ultra high-quality reverb sound for such a low price. The pedal has gained a great reputation from many of its customers, to be able to provide subtle reverb through to creative, psychedelic sweeps… Which mean that you can experiment with what works for your style of music. One thing that we will say, is this pedal is incredibly versatile.

However, check the customer reviews (above) and the video demonstration (below) to get a good impression that pedal is the one for you.

What would we improve?

Ok, so this pedal is still a budget-priced unit… Although one improvement we’ve heard is that if you’re playing at extremely loud dB volumes… The pedal can make a slight noise when initially engaged… But this is the same with a lot of pedals, especially when cranking up the volume…

Considering all of the aspects of this unit, which include the cost, aesthetic design, the sound, customer reviews and functionality, we have it as one of our personal favourites within this price range.

Who is this pedal for?

The Biyang Tri Reverb RV-10 Pedal is definitely for the guitarist who not only values sounding awesome, but also looking the part too! For the price, this is arguably one of the best ‘all-rounder’ pedals that we’ve featured on the list.

  • Weight : 0.20kg
  • Dimensions : 5.5″ x 2.4″ x 3.5″ inches

Customer Review Rating

The Caline CP-44 Pedal has received an average rating of 4.6* out of 5 stars from72 Amazon customer review.

Summary

The Caline CP-44 is an easy to set up guitar reverb pedal, suitable for the guitarist who simply wants a plug-n-play solution, with minimal controls and more time to spend recording. The pedal has the ability to provide a majestic timbre, which is clear and defined.

As for the visual aesthetics of this unit, its case is a little larger than previously reviewed pedals, which may, or may not be attractive to certain guitarists… This will depend on your personal preferences and obviously the available space that you have free on your pedalboard.

The case itself is made of an Aluminium-alloy, which is very durable, making it suitable for use on the road, when playing live venue shows, where pedals may get knocked or even dropped… You don’t need to worry so much!

As for how this processor sounds, well from looking at customer reviews, it provides a very clean sounding reverb effect, and even when the settings are barely turned up, it really does provide a more lingering, trailing reverb sound.

However, as you can hear from the video demonstration, when the guitar is on a clean setting, even when the ‘Dwell’ knob is turned up to maximum, it just provides a very dreamy sound, without losing control or creating feedback.

As always, check the customer reviews (above) and the video demonstration (below) to get a good impression that pedal is the one for you.

What would we improve?

For us personally, we love the reverberated sound that can be achieved when the guitar is on a clean setting. However, when the guitar signal is distorted, it almost sounds too messy… Now, this can be expected, but even when the dwell settings were on a minimum, this was too much for our ears.

Now, you may be only playing blues, jazz or a style of music that requires cleaner channelled guitar sounds… And therefore this pedal would be ideal for that. Please refer to the video demonstration to get a good impression of what this pedal is capable of.

Who is this pedal for?

It’s clear from the way in which this pedal is priced that it is aimed at the more budget-ranged consumer, but as we’ve just explained, if this is your price range, and you’re looking to create more dreamy sounding reverb guitar parts, ideally on a clean channel, this may be the unit for you.

Summary

‘The Void’ by Deadbeat audio is a guitar reverb pedal, which provides a combination of ultra high-quality circuitry, sleek design and incredible value for money.

‘The Void’ by Deadbeat audio is a guitar reverb pedal, which provides a combination of ultra high-quality circuitry, sleek design and incredible value for money!

For those who haven’t heard of Deadbeat Audio, well, without sounding rude, you’re missing out! This company started out in 2017, and have been making sonic waves ever since. They provide incredible sounding, beautiful looking effects units which are extremely affordable… We simply cannot get enough of featuring this company, because we think our readers deserve only the best!

Some of the reviews of this pedal state that these guys should be increasing their prices, with this pedal regularly being compared to the Boss RV-6 and the TC Electronics Hall of Fame 2. One aspect, in particular, that is apparent with this pedal is the level of clarity that can be achieved, which is due to the quality of the internal circuitry

However, this is not a hall reverb processor, but rather a plate reverb processor, not providing as much depth as some other processors featured on this list. Please refer to the video demonstration for a clear impression to the sound of this unit.

Also, take a read of the customer reviews (linked to above) and you’ll see first-hand why many guitarists are choosing ‘The Void’ as their go-to reverb processor.

What would we improve?

Ok, so this unit is $50, and for this, you’re getting an incredibly beautiful pedal, including several additions which are the power supply, 2 x patch cables and foam padded storage protective box. Not only this, but the pedal itself sounds awesome!

Now, what’s the slight downside, well you don’t get as many interface controls like some other pedals, but this is an extremely minor issue, as Deadbeat Audio has done a great job in making it easy to operate and solid-sounding.

Who is this pedal for?

This pedal is for the guitarist who simply wants to sound awesome, whilst looking incredibly slick! The unit itself really cannot be criticized as you’re getting so much quality and value for money… it’s literally a steal at this price.

However, as always, take a listen to the video demonstration to really get a good impression if this pedal is for you.

  • Weight : 0.33kg

Customer Review Rating

The Behringer DR600 Pedal has received an average rating of 2.9* out of 5 stars from72 Amazon customer review.

Summary

‘This Behringer DR600 provides stereo input/output connectivity, which is very similar priced to the Biyang Tri Reverb unit, but the Behringer also provides more parameter control options, which for some, may be more suitable.

The DR600 is Behringer’s answer to providing an affordable, good-sounding guitar reverb pedal that can compete with such industry leaders as Boss, against their RV-6 pedal.

For those who aren’t familiar with Behringer, they provide low-cost music equipment alternatives to their more hefty-priced competitor Boss, which is why the physical units look so similar.. I mean why not model your product based on what’s working.

Since the DR600 is based on the Boss RV-6, it has very similar interface options, which include Level, Tone, Time and Mode, where the user can choose between a range of settings and create unique combinations to really vary the output sound.

This particular unit also provides stereo input/output connectivity, which is very similar price to the Biyang Tri Reverb unit, but the Behringer provides a few more interface control options, so for some, this may be more suitable.

The pedal has been noted as sounding great, but the build quality is somewhat less refined than other more expensive processors. Also, one review commented on undertaking a ‘delay time’ test, which showed that the unit sometimes provided a 30ms (milliseconds) delay from input to output… Although this would generally not be heard unless you were playing INCREDIBLY fast music, so don’t worry!

As always, listen to the video demonstration below for a real impression as to how this unit sounds!

What would we improve?

Ok, so the one improvement we would make, which applies generally to all of Behringer’s products is the build quality. We often think that they spend so much time making the devices sound good, that they simply run out of budget on the outer casing… Now don’t get us wrong, it will last, but not as long as a Boss equivalent version… But you’re paying more for that.

Who is this pedal for?

Quite simply, this pedal is for the guitarist who requires a Stereo Input/Output processor that provides more parameter controls on the interface itself. The only other interface that comes close to doing this is the Biyang Tri Reverb unit, but, for those that require more interface parameter controls, the Behringer DR600 is the one for you.

Customer Review Rating

The Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail Nano Reverb Pedal has received an average rating of 4.1* out of 5 stars from72 Amazon customer review.

Summary

‘The Electro-Harmonix sounds awesome, especially when utilizing the Flerb setting, which combines Flange and Reverb. If you additionally like to use distortion, the combination of (Flerb) reverb, flange and distortion, from a tonal perspective, really adds character to the overall sound.

The Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail Nano pedal is a reverb processing unit for guitarists.

For those who aren’t aware who Electro-Harmonix are, they’re a music equipment manufacturing brand who have been around since the early 1970s and create and manufacture all of their products in New York, USA.

The brand focus on maintaining that 60’s/70’s vintage-looking vibe, even to this very day within their processors and music equipment, which is a particularly attractive feature, coupled with that fact that it is all assembled in the USA, we’re fans of Electro-Harmonix.

As for the Holy Grail Nano pedal, it’s very small in size… As you may have been able to tell by the name of the product. It’s built with the same high-quality die-cast metal casing that Electro-Harmonix usually use with their standard-sized products.

It’s particularly simple to use, given that there are only two control knobs/switches on the interface. One of the switches controls the reverb type, where you can switch between Spring (smooth, clean sounding), Hall (rich, warm sound that’s very responsive) and Flerb (flange and reverb together in one setting),and the other knob controls the level of reverb heard on output.

As for how the pedal sounds, well an interesting feature surrounding this pedal is the fact that it reacts very responsively to your playing dynamics, with more reverb being added when notes are played harder. We like this feature!

One aspect we really like is how the Flerb setting sounds when distortion is added… The combination of reverb, flange and distortion, from a tonal perspective, really adds character to the overall sound.

As always, listen to the video demonstration below for a real impression as to how this unit sounds!

What would we improve?

[br]Ok, so this unit is $133, and for this price, it provides a really high-quality sound that we love! Not only this, but you’re paying for all of the R&D that has gone into this device, which is indirectly over 50+ years of work. Therefore, it’s but a small price to pay for such a fantastic sounding pedal… No wonder it scores such a high customer rating on Amazon (shown above)

Who is this pedal for?

This pedal is very small in size, solidly built and provides an extremely high-quality tone… Oh, and it’s built by Electro-Harmonix! Therefore the Holy Grail Nano pedal is for the musician who doesn’t have any space, but requires plenty of high-quality reverb… and that lovely Flerb (Flange/Reverb combination) setting.

‘The TC-Electronics Hall of Fame 2 has the awesome sound of the original pedal, but also features an array of upgrades…. Utilizing revolutionary ‘Mash Footswitch Technology’, transforming the operation of the footswitch, which alongside the USB TonePrint App/Editor intergration provides the ultimate sonic customization experience. The TC-Electronics Hall of Fame 2 is the second edition to the Hall of Fame series. It’s small, compact, well-built and packs some incredible features, making it large advancement on the original pedal. So what makes this pedal different from the original version… Well, the largest difference is the patented ‘Mash Footswitch Technology’ that TC Electronics have developed for this Hall of Fame 2…which is revolutionising what our concept of a traditional footswitch is.

Mash Footswitch Technology

TC Electronics describe their Mash Technology as a revolutionary element to the commonly known footswitch, which helps transform it into a pressure-sensitive expression pedal, capable of providing the user with more opportunity to gain the sound they want, at particular times (within a song), all at their footsteps.

The harder the user pushes/presses the footswitch, the more the sound changes as algorithmic modulation/processing is done in the background. This enables the user to add as much, or as little additional modulation to the guitar tone, with this expression footswitch being capable of distinguishing between subtle and heavier pressure, and therefore delivering suitable modulation based on that information [Refer to 3:22 of the demonstration video below to see this in action].

The Mash Footswitch is incredibly customizable, with it allowing the user to program exactly what function the mash button should control via the TonePrint Editor/App, which is compatible with Mac, PC and Ipad.

The Hall of Fame pedal also has an additional ‘Shimmer’ reverb setting, being heavily requested since the development of the original pedal. Therefore the processing algorithm for this new ‘Shimmer’ effect is based on the Polyphonic octaver from the TC Electronic Sub Up pedal, which received extremely positive feedback.

What would we improve?

Nothing! This happens to be our personal favourite pedal on the list! Yes, you’re paying nearly $150, but this is a small price to pay when you’re going to keep and use this for years! For the sheer functionality of this unit, incredible sound quality and versatility of its application, it’s definitely a winner for us!

Who is this pedal for?

The TC-Electronics Hall of Fame is aptly named! It’s for the guitarist who wants to be remembered for creating creative, memorable and innovative guitar parts. This unit allows you to take advantage of the Mash Footswitch Technology, whilst being able to personalize every element of your sound, with use of the TonePrint editor.

If you have the budget, you simply won’t regret purchasing this unit.

The Boss RV-6 is the benchmark for all other reverb pedals out there. The RV-6 is no different to any other Boss pedal, it follows the same physical specification, being extremely well-built and versatile in its ability to provide a range of reverberation effects, suiting almost any style of music.

Boss realize that they have a varied audience of guitarists who use their pedals, and so they simply provide a very versatile unit, as can be seen in the RV-6’s choice of reverb types that are available, including  Modulate, Spring, Hall, Plate, Room, Dynamic, Shimmer and Delay. Not oly this, but further customizations can be made through the E.Level, Tone & Time interface controls.

The unit has been noted to sounding particularly good, with some commenting that it resembles an old-type spring reverb that was popular in 1960’s tube amplifiers.

However, as always please refer to the video demonstration to hear the pedal in action, for yourself!

What would we improve?

With Boss, you’re paying for the brand name, their heritage and wealth of experience in creating high-quality effects units. However, we think there are other pedals such as the TC-Electronics Hall of Fame 2, which provide more functions for the same price… Now some would argue that Boss’s pedals have stood the test of time for longer, but I would advise that you take a listen to both, before making your judgement.

Who is this pedal for?

This pedal is for the guitarist who wants a really great sounding, versatile reverb pedal that will still be working in 30 years time.

Boss’s pedals are known for lasting, and so if you’re a touring/gigging musician in need of a pedal that you can count on, night after night, the Boss RV-6 is for you… Not to mention, like all boss products, it has a 5-Year Manufacturers Warranty.

If you have the budget, you simply won’t regret purchasing this unit.

Summary

‘The Old Blood Noise Endeavors unit is a synth-like reverb pedal with modulations that will warp you to a sci-fi movie or to a relaxing beach, all within the few seconds it takes to rotate a knob or two.

The Old Blood Noise Endeavors V2 Procession pedal can only be described as the outlier within the list. It’s sheer tenacity and intriguing sound capabilities are one of the main reasons why it’s secured its position here… This is because it provides a seriously versatile sound. If we’re to try to describe the unit’s sound in a brief sentence, it would go something like this:

The Old Blood Noise Endeavors unit is a synth-like reverb pedal with modulations that will warp you to a sci-fi movie or to a relaxing beach, all within the few seconds it takes to rotate a knob or two.

This is a particularly hard pedal for us to describe, and therefore we highly advise that you take a look at the in-depth demonstration video that is featured below, to see exactly what this unit is really capable of, as there are many different sounds and features available at your fingertips.

However, we can briefly touch on a few of the settings. The pedal itself revolves around three main modulation settings, which are:

  • Flange
  • Filter
  • Tremolo

The interface controls can then be used to modify these modulations with added reverb effects, which in turn also make changes to the primary modulation.

Additionally, the processor provides some interesting foot pedal functionality, which allows for note holding to be achieved, alongside the overlaying of riffs, which depends on the interface settings that have been chosen.

What would we improve?

It’s really hard to say what can be improved with this pedal, as it cannot exactly be benchmarked against other pedals within the list… It is what they refer to in business terms as a Blue Ocean product… One that is incredibly unique and therefore has its own market.

Who is this pedal for?

This unit is quite simply for the guitarist who wants a boutique reverb pedal, which provides some seriously unique sounds. If you’re looking for those Sci-Fi modulational sounds, all within a pedal that can combine this with high-quality reverberation, this may well be the pedal that you’re after!

Customer Review Rating

The Caroline Guitar Company Météore Lo-Fi Reverb pedal has received an average rating of 4.5* out of 5 stars from72 Amazon customer review.

Summary

‘The Caroline GuitarCompany Météore Lo-Fi Reverb pedal provides state of the art technology, giving you anything from a rich, warm-toned spring reverb, through to a psychedelic, long-delayed reverberation, and then even to a heavily overdriven, dirty reverb sound with the help from the internal analog drive circuitry.

The Caroline Guitar Company Météore Lo-Fi Reverb pedal is inspired by the very modern line 14 of the Paris Metro and its interiors of steel, tile and glass.

The pedal itself is incredibly versatile, which you would expect for a solution within this price-range… This means that you can get anything from a rich, warm-toned spring reverb, through to a psychedelic, long-delayed reverberation, and then even to a heavily overdriven, dirty reverb sound with the help from the internal analog drive circuitry.

Another unique feature of this unit is the Havoc footswitch, which as you can probably guess, when held, really wreaks havoc on the overall sound. The footswitch itself, when engaged provides an infinite hold on the current played note, which sounds similar to an overdriven pre-amp distortion… Ideal if you’re looking to gain that kind of sound, and fun to play with as it can certainly be challenging to control.

As always, please take a listen to the video demonstration, as you’ll really get a much better idea as to how this unit sounds.

One aspect we think that the Météore Lo-Fi Reverb does well is in providing more psychedelic reverb tones, with both a clean and distorted guitar tone, we especially like the tone that you can hear in the video demonstration at 3:35… Where you can hear the swell and collapse of the reverb as the decay kicks in.

What would we improve?

The pedal is quite expensive, but similar to the Old Blood Noise Endeavors V2 Procession pedal, you’re getting a unit that is incredibly unique, and provides a sound that the other (less expensive) units simply cannot provide… So as much as we can say that we would like to make this pedal more accessible by reducing the price, it may not be possible, as a lot of R&D and testing has gone into creating such a processor.

Who is this pedal for?

This processor is capable of providing every kind of reverb/overdriven reverberation tone that you can think of. It’s definitely suited to the guitarist who’s looking to gain that anthemic, iconic reverb sound, which can quickly turn into an overdriven distortion if you’re not careful…. But then, that’s all the more fun, right!

Assuming you have the budget for this unit, we can safely say that you’ll be glad that you purchased it. And we’re also sure that your creative instincts will thank you too!

Customer Review Rating

The Catalinbread Topanga Spring Reverb pedal has received an average rating of 4.4* out of 5 stars from72 Amazon customer review.

Summary

‘The Catalinbread Topanga Spring Reverb pedal provides that iconic 1960’s spring reverb sound that we all know and love, all within a compact, vintage looking unit.

The Catalinbread Topanga Spring Reverb pedal can be described as a 60’s sounding spring reverb tank pedal…

The outboard Fender 6G15 spring reverb processor unit is, and will always be thought of as what’s commonly known as the ‘Surf Guitar’ sound. Part of this pedal’s unique sound comes from the fact that the unit itself is run in front of the amplifier, causing the reverberated signal to distort and sound more intense; giving it an extra bite.

There are four main controls on this pedal, Dwell, Tone, Mix and Volumeto help you sculpture the sound that you want.

The unit itself has a high quality, discrete preamp which can be controlled via the Volume knob… Turn it up loud and the preamp is overloaded, giving you more of that overdriven, warm, fuzzy ‘surf guitar’ sound… Or turn it down to get more of a cleaner signal.

It’s definitely suited, but not limited to those blues guitarists who want that 60’s sounding reverberated shimmer that this pedal provides.

The unit provides both True Bypass and Buffered Bypass functionality. Buffered Bypass, also referred to as ‘Trail Mode’ will simply allow the reverb tail signal to be heard through the mix when the pedal has been disengaged, creating a trail before finally fading out.

What would we improve?

This pedal is definitely out in its own niche with regards to the sounds that it can achieve, all due to the vintage spring reverb tank and unique pre-amp circuitry; Therefore it’s very hard to benchmark it against the other pedals featured on the list.

Needless to say, this unit is the most expensive pedal on the list… But then it’s a very bespoke sound that you’re able to achieve with it.

Who is this pedal for?

The Catalinbread Topanga is definitely for the guitarist who’s fond of that vintage 60’s surf guitar sound, and wants to be able to emulate it with a wonderfully stylish and slick spring reverb.
